This fungal disease is common on barley in the fall. Chemical control is generally not economical for this disease. Severity of the disease is dependent on environmental conditions. Fall infections will likely not survive the winter and the disease is unlikely to be a problem in the spring. Two-year rotations with non-grass crops can help reduce inoculum.
